The GVSU men's golf team has secured a spot in the National Championships after finishing fourth at the Super Regionals. This marks the third consecutive year that the Lakers have advanced to Nationals.
In the final round, Central Oklahoma delivered an impressive performance with a score of 267 (-13), moving up two positions to claim the team title at -17. Henderson State also achieved a -13 score, finishing just one stroke behind at -16. Harding secured third place at -10, while the Lakers followed closely at nine under with a round of 278 (-2). Ferris State was the last team to qualify for Nationals, placing fifth at -6.
Manuel Cue Vargas tied for third place individually with a seven-under finish, shooting a final round of 68 (-2) and making five birdies. Drew Coble also placed in the top ten, tying for seventh with a similar round of 68 and five birdies to conclude at -5. Nick Krueger recorded a third-round score of 72 (+2), ending one over par with one birdie. Andrew Gwilliams tied for 51st place at +5 after making five birdies in his even-par round of 70. Bryce Wheeler tied for 67th with a final round score of 72 (+2), making four birdies to finish at +7.
The National Championships are scheduled from May 21st through May 25th in Orlando, Florida.
