The Grand Valley State men's basketball team faced a defeat against Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, February 10, with a final score of 78-62. The loss brings the Lakers' record to an even 6-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and 9-13 overall.
Mason Docks was the leading scorer for the Lakers, contributing 18 points to the team's total. His performance included three successful three-point shots and a flawless record from the free throw line, making all three attempts. Ethan Alderink added another 15 points to the scoreboard, hitting six out of fourteen shots and also achieving a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc. He additionally secured six rebounds. Both Trevor Smith and Trevon Gunter chipped in seven points each, while Jalen Charity led in rebounds with seven.
Overall, Grand Valley State shot at a rate of 33.9% from field goals and achieved a 40% success rate from three-point range. Their free throw accuracy stood at 75%, as they converted twelve out of sixteen attempts. Despite being outrebounded by Saginaw Valley State with a count of 40-30, GVSU managed to secure more offensive rebounds with a tally of 16-12.
