Grand Valley State narrowly defeated by Purdue Northwest; prepares for final homestand

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team was narrowly defeated by Purdue Northwest, 78-76, on Saturday in Hammond, Indiana. This result leaves the Lakers with a record of 7-7 in the GLIAC and 10-14 overall for the season.

William Dunn and Mason Docks were top scorers for the Lakers, each contributing 17 points. Docks achieved a shooting rate of 6-11 from the field while also providing four assists and securing three rebounds. Dunn made three successful 3-point shots and collected six rebounds. Ethan Alderink added to the team's score with 14 points and six rebounds. Marius Grazulis scored eight points and led in rebounds with eleven, including five offensive boards.

The team managed a shooting percentage of 44.6% from the field and hit 37.5% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Although Purdue Northwest had a slight edge in total rebounds at 40 compared to GVSU's 39, they significantly led in offensive rebounds with a count of 19 against GVSU's 14. The Lakers' bench contributed significantly to their score with 32 points, whereas Purdue Northwest's bench added only 18 points. In terms of scoring within the paint area, GVSU surpassed Purdue Northwest by ten points.

Looking ahead, the Lakers are set to return home for their final regular-season games next week. They will face Ferris State on Thursday at 8:00 PM and Lake Superior State on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Fans can watch these games live via FloSports or listen to them on live radio broadcasts.
