Grand Valley State falls short against Wayne State in men's basketball

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team experienced a setback on Thursday night, falling to Wayne State with a score of 73-66. This loss brings the Lakers' season record to 9-12 and their GLIAC conference record to 6-5.

Ethan Alderink emerged as the top scorer for the Lakers, contributing 16 points. He achieved this by shooting 4-8 from the field and an impressive 7-8 from the free throw line. Additionally, Alderink led in rebounds with seven. Britain Harris provided significant support off the bench, scoring 13 points with a flawless performance at the free throw line, going 6-6. Harris also contributed six rebounds and three assists. William Dunn added 12 points to the scoreboard, making two out of five three-point attempts. Marius Grazulis chipped in with eight points, five rebounds, and two assists.

The Lakers shot 40.8% overall and made seven out of eighteen three-point attempts. They were effective from the free throw line as well, achieving an accuracy rate of 82% by making nineteen out of twenty-three attempts. Both teams secured thirty-four rebounds each during the game; however, Grand Valley State had an edge in bench scoring over Wayne State with a margin of 30-16.

Looking ahead, Grand Valley State will continue their road trip with a game against Saginaw Valley State on Saturday afternoon in University Center, Michigan.
