Grand Valley State faces Davenport in GLIAC quarterfinals

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's soccer team is set to begin its postseason play against Davenport in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Quarterfinals. The match will take place on Monday, November 5, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM.

GVSU concluded its regular season with a narrow 2-1 victory over Davenport, completing a sweep of the season series against the Panthers. The Lakers finished second in the GLIAC standings with an 8-1-5 record and an overall record of 10-2-6.

Kacy Lauer has been instrumental for GVSU, leading the team with four goals and three assists, accumulating a total of 11 points. Emma Chudik leads in goals scored with five and ranks second on the team with 10 points. Taylor Reid contributed significantly by scoring both goals in last week's win over Davenport, bringing her tally to three goals and three assists for nine points this season.

Davenport enters the postseason with a 5-6-6 overall record and a GLIAC record of 2-6-6. Junior forward Haley Diekevers is a key player for the Panthers, ranking second in the GLIAC with 18 points from seven goals and four assists, including two game-winning goals. Freshman Madison Fant has also made an impact with five goals and two assists, tying for the team lead in game-winning goals. Senior goalkeeper Gabriana Bennecke has played in 12 games, making 11 starts and recording a 4-5-3 record along with 44 saves.
