After opening their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play last weekend, the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's lacrosse team is set to play their final nonconference game of the year on Friday. The Lakers will host Walsh before returning to league action against Davenport on Sunday.

The Lakers, currently ranked eighth, extended their winning streak to six games last weekend with two decisive victories. They defeated Northern Michigan 17-6 and Concordia-St. Paul 16-1, marking their 30th and 31st consecutive GLIAC regular season wins—a new conference record.

In the win over Northern Michigan, Maddy Champagne scored five goals, surpassing 200 career points. Hailey Crittenden added four goals while Kaylyn Cater made six saves in goal. The Laker defense limited the GLIAC's leading scorer to just one point. Against Concordia-St. Paul, the defense allowed only four shots and caused 16 turnovers. Crittenden scored five times again, with Champagne and Sydney Stone both achieving hat tricks. Crittenden was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Aislynn Alkire earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Walsh enters Friday's game on a three-game winning streak with an overall record of 8-4 this year. The Cavaliers have scored a total of 166 goals this season, with Rachel Black and Isabella Kelty each having over 60 points. Their defense has caused 124 turnovers and picked up 214 groundballs while allowing fewer than nine goals per game. Kathleen Mendenhall has been key in goal with a .443 save percentage.

On Sunday, GVSU will face Davenport as they return to conference play. Davenport started strong at 5-2 but has since lost three straight games in league play against CSP and Northern Michigan. Maisy Latus has been notable in goal for Davenport with a .461 save percentage and 106 saves this season.

Both games can be followed through live stats and video coverage available online.
