GVSU women's soccer faces Davenport in final regular season home game

The Grand Valley State University women's soccer team is set to conclude its regular season against Davenport on November 2, at the GVSU Soccer Field. The match will begin at 7:00 PM.

Currently, the Lakers hold a record of 9-2-6 and are positioned second in the GLIAC standings with a 7-1-5 mark. They still have a chance to secure first place if they win against Davenport and Northern Michigan loses to Michigan Tech.

In their previous game, GVSU secured a 4-1 victory over Purdue Northwest. Ryann Fetty played a key role by scoring the game-winning goal and providing an assist, earning her the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week title. Kacy Lauer contributed with her third goal from a penalty kick and also added an assist, leading the team's scoring with four goals and three assists totaling 11 points.

This upcoming match marks the second encounter between GVSU and Davenport this season. In their last meeting in Caledonia, GVSU triumphed with a 2-1 victory thanks to Claire Breault's decisive goal in the 87th minute. Historically, GVSU has dominated the series with a perfect record of 10-0-0 against Davenport.

Davenport approaches this final regular-season game with an overall record of 5-5-6 and a GLIAC mark of 2-5-6. Their recent performances include draws against Purdue Northwest and Parkside.

Junior forward Haley Diekevers leads Davenport, ranking second in GLIAC with 16 points from six goals and four assists, including two game-winning goals. Freshman forward Madison Fant has accumulated five goals and two assists for 12 points, matching Diekevers' two game-winning goals. Senior goalkeeper Gabriana Bennecke has participated in 12 games with 11 starts, achieving a record of 4-5-3 while making 44 saves.
