The GVSU women's lacrosse team concluded their regular season with a victory over Davenport, winning 9-4. This result leaves the Lakers with an overall record of 15-1 and an undefeated 6-0 in GLIAC play.

In the first half, both teams struggled to gain momentum, exchanging goals throughout the period. Maddy Champagne initiated scoring for GVSU, but Davenport quickly responded. Sydney Stone scored twice in the first quarter, assisted by Ashleigh Rothe, leading to a 3-2 advantage for GVSU at the end of the period.

Davenport equalized early in the second quarter. Zoe Ziegler then scored with an assist from Grace Maddox, making it 4-3 for GVSU. However, Davenport tied it again before halftime at 4-4.

Stone's goal early in the second half put GVSU ahead permanently after receiving a pass from Champagne. Kate DeYoung added her name to the score sheet with help from Delaney Smith. Champagne provided two more assists during this period—one each to Smith and Ziegler—ending the third quarter at 8-4. With four points in this game, Champagne reached a career total of 226 points, setting a new program record.

Hailey Crittenden scored the only goal of the fourth quarter as GVSU's defense maintained a shutout for their eleventh consecutive win.

Sydney Stone achieved a hat trick while Zoe Ziegler netted two goals. Maddy Champagne, Hailey Crittenden, Delaney Smith, and Kate DeYoung each contributed one goal. Assists were credited to Champagne (three), Smith (one), Rothe (one), and Maddox (one).

Goalkeeper Kaylyn Cater made five saves to secure her thirteenth win of the season. Aislynn Alkire caused three turnovers; Stone caused two turnovers as well. Groundballs were collected by Smith (three), while Stone, Champagne, Rothe, and Cater each picked up two.

The Lakers will now prepare for postseason action as they host the GLIAC Tournament this weekend. They are set to face Davenport again on Friday in the semifinals at 4:00 PM.
