Grand Valley State softball concludes regular season with home doubleheaders

The Grand Valley State softball team is set to conclude its regular season with two home doubleheaders in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) against Purdue Northwest and Parkside. The Lakers will face Purdue Northwest on Friday, April 26 at noon, followed by a matchup against Parkside on Saturday, April 27 at 2:30 PM.

Grand Valley State currently leads the GLIAC standings with a 13-7 conference record and an overall record of 30-13. The team enters the weekend on a seven-game winning streak, including five victories on the road. As a team, they have a batting average of .295 and have outscored opponents 213-92 this season. Their pitching staff boasts a league-leading ERA of 1.95.

Key players for the Lakers include Hannah Hollister, who has a .380 batting average and leads the GLIAC with 35 stolen bases; Kelsey Komorous, who has driven in 51 runs this season; and Morgan Spicer, who has contributed significantly with her .348 batting average.

On the mound, Ashley Platek leads with a second-best ERA in the GLIAC at 1.74. Nevaeh Ingram follows closely with an ERA of 1.82 and remains undefeated in her appearances. Genesis Eggart holds an ERA of 1.83 while leading the team in wins and strikeouts.

Purdue Northwest comes into Friday's games holding third place in the GLIAC standings with a conference record of 12-8 and an overall record of 27-19. Their offense is led by Kylie Dugan, who tops the league with a .493 batting average.

Parkside will finish their regular season this weekend as well, bringing a record of 17-28 overall and an 8-12 mark in conference play to Allendale. Mia Johnson stands out for Parkside as she leads her team in several offensive categories.
