The Grand Valley State women's tennis team experienced a narrow defeat against Tiffin, with a final score of 4-3 on Friday afternoon. This match leaves the Lakers with an even record of 2-2 for the season.
Tiffin secured the doubles point by winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. However, Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas managed to achieve a victory at No. 3 doubles with a score of 7-6. Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos faced a challenging match, losing 3-6 at No.1 doubles, while Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam were defeated 2-6 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Vasileia Griva delivered a strong performance with a three-set win in the top singles position, scoring 7-6, 4-6, 6-1. Anna Soteras won her match in straight sets at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-4. Estefania Hernandez also claimed victory in straight sets at No. 6 singles with scores of 6-2, 7-6.
Despite these successes, Neus Ramos was narrowly defeated in a three-set match at No. 4 singles with scores of 3-6, 6-2, and 2-6. Taylor Barrett lost her match at No. 2 singles with scores of 3-6, and Rachel Sam was defeated at No.3 singles by the same scoreline.
The Lakers are set to continue their road trip this weekend as they face Findlay in Findlay, Ohio on Saturday.
