The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over Lewis on Friday, February 23, at the Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. This win brings the Lakers' season record to 4-3.

In doubles play, Lewis gained an early advantage by winning at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas managed a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles for Grand Valley State. Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos faced a narrow defeat with a score of 4-6 at the top doubles spot, while Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam lost a close match with a score of 5-7 at No. 2 doubles.

The singles matches saw a turnaround for the Lakers. Vasileia Griva won in straight sets, scoring 7-5, 7-5 at the top singles position. Rachel Sam came from behind to secure a three-set victory with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Anna Soteras achieved a straight-set win with scores of 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, while Neus Ramos also claimed victory in straight sets with scores of 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Estefania Hernandez delivered a strong performance with a decisive win of 6-2, 6-0 in straight sets at No. 6 singles. However, Taylor Barrett was defeated in her match with scores of 4-6, 3-6 at No. 2 singles.

The Lakers are set to conclude their homestand this week by hosting Northwood on Saturday, February 24, with the first serve scheduled for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
