Grand Valley State women's tennis narrowly loses to Biola

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team experienced a narrow defeat against Biola, losing 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon in La Mirada, California. This result brings the Lakers' season record to 5-5.

Biola secured the doubles point by winning matches at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas achieved a victory with a score of 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. Meanwhile, Taylor Barrett and Anna Soteras were defeated 3-6 at the top doubles position, and Vasileia Griva alongside Rachel Sam also fell short with a score of 3-6 at No. 2 doubles.

In singles competition, Taylor Barrett emerged victorious in a closely contested match at No. 2 singles, winning with scores of 6-0, 4-6, and 7-6 over three sets. Anna Soteras won her match convincingly in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Vale Mozas added another win for the Lakers with scores of 6-4, 7-6 in straight sets at No. 6 singles.

However, Vasileia Griva faced a challenging three-set match at the top singles position and was narrowly defeated with scores of 3-6, 6-3, and finally falling short at 4-6. Rachel Sam lost her match after two close sets ending in scores of 5-7 each time at No. 3 singles while Estefania Hernandez was defeated decisively with scores of 2-6 across both sets at No.5 singles.

The Lakers are set to conclude their California trip on Thursday when they face Concordia Irvine with first serve scheduled for four o'clock PM Eastern Time.
