Grand Valley State women's tennis secures shutout victory over Walsh

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team achieved a decisive victory against Walsh, winning 7-0 on Friday at the Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. This win brings the Lakers' season record to an even 3-3.

In doubles matches, the Lakers dominated, securing all three games. Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos earned a 6-3 win in the top doubles spot. Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam also secured a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

Singles matches saw continued success for Grand Valley State. Taylor Barrett won her match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, at the top singles position. Rachel Sam faced a tougher challenge but prevailed with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras claimed another straight set win for the Lakers with scores of 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Neus Ramos battled through three sets to secure her win at No. 4 singles with scores of 6-4, 5-7, and an intense final set of 11-9. Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas both won their respective matches in straight sets; Hernandez finished with scores of 6-4, 7-6 at No.5 singles while Mozas ended her match with scores of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Looking ahead, the Laker women are scheduled to play against Lewis next Friday (Feb.23) followed by Northwood on Saturday (Feb.24), both matches taking place at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
