The Grand Valley State women's tennis team achieved a decisive victory over Lake Superior State, winning 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. This win improves the Lakers' season record to 10-8 and their conference record in the GLIAC to 4-2.
In doubles play, GVSU secured all matches to earn the doubles point. The pair of Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos won with a score of 6-3 at the top doubles position. Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Estefania Hernandez and Vale Mozas concluded with a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
During singles matches, Vasileia Griva secured a straight-set win of 7-5, 7-6 at the top singles position. Taylor Barrett triumphed in three sets with scores of 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras delivered an impressive performance with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Neus Ramos dominated her match at No. 4 singles with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-1. Rachel Sam fought through three sets to achieve a victory of 7-5, 4-6, and finally winning in the tiebreaker with a score of 10-7 at No. 5 singles. Vale Mozas rounded off the victories with another dominant display, finishing her match with scores of 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers are set to conclude their regular season tomorrow as they host Michigan Tech at home. The match is scheduled for a first serve at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club starting at 5:00 PM.
