Grand Valley State women's tennis defeats McKendree; prepares for match against Indianapolis

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team began their spring schedule with a decisive 6-1 victory against McKendree on Friday night in Indianapolis. This win improves the Lakers' season record to 2-0, while McKendree starts their season at 0-1.

In doubles matches, Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos secured a 7-5 win in the top position. Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam followed with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, and Estefania Hernandez along with Vale Mozas completed the sweep by winning 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

For singles matches, Vasileia Griva achieved a straight-set victory of 6-2, 6-2 in the top singles spot. Rachel Sam won her match in three sets with scores of 6-2, 6-7, and 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Neus Ramos earned a straight-set win of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Estefania Hernandez managed to secure a comeback victory in three sets with scores of 1-6, 6-4, and a tiebreaker score of 10-6 at No. 5 singles. Vale Mozas added another point for the team by winning her match with scores of 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 6 singles.

The Lakers are scheduled to play against Indianapolis on Saturday as they continue their weekend matches away from home.
