Lakers women's soccer team secures fourth consecutive shutout victory

The Grand Valley State University women's soccer team, ranked 18th, secured a 2-0 victory against Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan, on Sunday. This marks the Lakers' fourth consecutive shutout win. The team now holds a record of 10-1-3 for the season and 7-1-2 in the GLIAC.

The match saw its first goal in the 16th minute when Taylor Reid scored her inaugural goal of the season. Following a free kick, the ball deflected to Ryann Fetty, who assisted Reid in finding the net. This was Fetty's fourth assist this season.

In the second half, Kendall Aikens extended GVSU's lead with her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute. Alex Williams provided a cross for Aikens to head into the goal, marking Williams' third assist of the season.

The Lakers had an edge over Ferris State with a total of 15 shots compared to Ferris State's 12 and six shots on target against two. Both teams had five corner kicks each. Taylor Reid led with four shots and scored the decisive goal. Ryann Fetty and Alex Williams both contributed assists and took two shots each. Dawn Louwerse, Mackenzie Ford, Kacy Lauer, and Alex Williams played full-time during this match. Cailynn Junk started as goalkeeper and achieved her fifth individual shutout by making two saves.
