The Grand Valley State men's basketball team concluded their regular season with a 92-86 victory over Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon. This win marks the Lakers' fourth consecutive triumph, bringing their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) record to 11-7 and an overall standing of 14-14.
Marius Grazulis and Britain Harris both delivered outstanding performances, each scoring 24 points. Grazulis matched his career high by shooting 8-10 from the field and from the free throw line, while also contributing five rebounds and two blocked shots. Harris also equaled his career best, shooting 8-12 from the field and maintaining a perfect record from beyond the arc at 3-3. He added five rebounds and two steals to his stats for the game. William Dunn supported with 12 points, hitting all four of his three-point attempts, and Trevor Smith contributed nine points along with four assists.
The Lakers achieved their highest shooting percentage of the season, converting 64% of their shots from the field and 57% from three-point range. They also recorded a free throw success rate of nearly 77%, making 20 out of 26 attempts. In contrast, Michigan Tech shot at a rate of 55% from the field and hit 40% of their three-pointers while completing approximately 76% of their free throws.
Grand Valley State started strong with a significant early lead but faced resistance as Michigan Tech closed in by halftime. The second half saw fluctuating leads until key plays by Dunn and Harris helped secure an advantage that was maintained through strategic plays towards the end.
With this victory, Grand Valley State has secured the fourth seed in the GLIAC Tournament and will face Michigan Tech again in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 6 at GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The game will be available for live streaming on FloSports.
