The GVSU women's basketball team began their season at the D2CCA Tip Off at the Trailhead tournament in Montana, securing a victory over Findlay with a score of 92-50. This marks the 13th consecutive year that the Lakers have started their season with a win.

The game commenced with a quick start from the Lakers, as Nicole Kamin scored just 13 seconds into the match. This initiated an 8-0 run for GVSU. Although Findlay managed to narrow the gap to 11-5, the Lakers responded strongly, ending the first quarter with a lead of 22-9 following an Abrie Cabana three-pointer.

In the second quarter, GVSU extended their lead further. Three-pointers from Kamin, Lexi Plitzuweit, and Avery Zeinstra contributed to a 9-0 run, putting them ahead by 34-12. Despite Findlay's efforts to reduce their deficit late in the quarter, another strong finish by GVSU left them leading 50-23 at halftime.

The third quarter saw GVSU extend their advantage beyond 30 points after a series of successful plays including threes from Cabana and Hadley Miller. MacKenzie Bisballe added a late three-pointer to initiate a 12-3 run, closing out the third quarter with GVSU leading 77-34.

Throughout the final quarter, Grand Valley maintained their lead above 40 points and surpassed 90 points in total—a feat they achieved only four times last season.

Key contributors included Abrie Cabana, Rylie Bisballe, and Hadley Miller who each scored 12 points. Both Cabana and Miller also recorded six rebounds and three assists. Rylie Bisballe added five assists along with four rebounds and three steals. MacKenzie Bisballe made her collegiate debut scoring 11 points while Nicole Kamin and Ellie Droste each added ten points. Lexi Plitzuweit and Avery Zeinstra both provided four assists during the game. The Lakers forced Findlay into committing 25 turnovers which resulted in them scoring an additional 22 points.

GVSU will face host Montana State Billings tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 EST.
