Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has been ranked 17th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) preseason team poll. In addition, Josh Kenny, the defending national champion at 174 pounds, holds the top spot in the individual rankings. Wyatt Miller, an All-American wrestler for GVSU, is ranked seventh at 197 pounds.

In their first season back as a varsity program after a 32-year hiatus, GVSU finished 13th at the NCAA Championships and achieved a dual meet record of 13-7. The Lakers are set to begin their 2024-25 season at the Michigan State Open on Saturday, November 9.

Kenny had an impressive performance at the NCAA Championships with three bonus-point wins leading to his national title. He concluded the season with a record of 32-5 and accumulated 26 bonus point victories. Miller also excelled with a record of 31-8 and secured All-America honors by achieving 20 bonus point wins.

Junior Chris Donathan advanced to the NCAA Championships last season and ended with a record of 25-3 at 149 pounds. Sophomore Collin Twigg posted a record of 21-12 at 133 pounds, while Jak Keller recorded a mark of 16-18 at 141 pounds.
