Grand Valley State University's cross country teams are set to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships. The event will take place on Saturday, November 9, in Romeoville, Illinois, hosted by Lewis University. The men's team will participate in a 10-kilometer race starting at 10 a.m. Central Time, while the women's team will compete in a 6-kilometer race at 11:15 a.m.

The competition serves as a qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships scheduled for November 23 in Sacramento, California. The top three men's and women's teams from the regional event will secure automatic qualification for the national championships.

Grand Valley's cross country teams arrive with impressive records, holding 21 consecutive men's and 22 consecutive women's regional titles. Last year, they dominated the competition with four of seven men and six of seven women finishing in the top ten positions. Their teams scored 48 and 28 points respectively.

Recently, both teams also claimed their respective GLIAC Championship titles for the 22nd and 23rd consecutive times. The men's team achieved a perfect score of 15 points with eleven runners placing in the top twenty. Meanwhile, the women's team secured nine top twenty finishes, resulting in a first-place total of 23 points.
