The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team secured a dominant victory against Ohio Dominican with a final score of 94-43. This match marked the beginning of their home schedule, and the Lakers have now achieved a 4-0 record to start the season.

Prior to the game, Senior Day was observed to honor the contributions of players Rylie Bisballe, Abrie Cabana, Ellie Droste, Hadley Miller, and Kathryn Schmidt, along with student assistants Alia Burgess and Jordyn Roberts. This senior class has achieved an impressive record of 111 wins and 15 losses. They have also won three GLIAC regular season titles and two GLIAC Tournament titles while making four NCAA tournament appearances. Notably, they reached three Midwest Regional Championship Games and advanced to the Final Four in 2022.

The Lakers dominated from the outset, initiating a 12-0 run that included a three-pointer by Schmidt. The Panthers scored their first points with 6:32 left in the first quarter but managed to narrow their deficit to single digits at 15-6. GVSU closed out the quarter on a high note with Avery Zeinstra's buzzer-beating layup that brought them up to 21-6.

In response to an Ohio Dominican basket at the start of the second quarter, Zeinstra sank consecutive three-pointers extending GVSU's lead to 19 points. Despite efforts from Ohio Dominican to cut into this lead, threes by Droste and Miller pushed it over 20 points for the first time during this stretch. A further surge saw GVSU finish off a strong half leading comfortably at 46-21.

Though Ohio Dominican briefly reduced their deficit down to within reach early in third quarter play — trailing by just over twenty — another burst from GVSU widened margins again through consistent scoring culminating with Cherney’s debut career points via her successful shot beyond arc alongside White’s similar contribution capping third-quarter proceedings firmly favoring Lakers: advantage maintained robustly now resting comfortably at seventy-six - thirty-four end-of-play scenario soon confirmed inevitable outcome long since apparent entering concluding phase featuring standout displays such as Lauren Slagle joining fellow teammates continuing exceptional form witnessed throughout comprehensive performance across court achieving yet another convincing triumph.
