FOIA Request to Ottawa County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Holland Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Ottawa County Election Division in Michigan. The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks detailed information about the pre-election testing of voting machines.

The specific records requested under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., include a comprehensive report in PDF format detailing the pre-election tests conducted on the voting machines. The fields requested for each machine include the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed the test.

Our role as media professionals involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
