The Grand Valley State women's soccer team is preparing to host Parkside in the GLIAC quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 12. The match will take place at 5:00 PM at the GVSU Soccer field.
In their previous encounters this season, GVSU shut out Parkside twice. The Lakers secured a 3-0 victory in Allendale and later won 2-0 in Kenosha. Historically, GVSU holds a 17-6-1 record against Parkside.
GVSU concluded the regular season in second place within the GLIAC standings with an overall record of 8-1-5 and an overall mark of 11-1-6. Their last two games ended in draws: a 1-1 tie with Northern Michigan and a scoreless draw against Michigan Tech.
Throughout the regular season, the Lakers scored 26 goals while conceding only seven, achieving 11 clean sheets. Emma Chudik contributed four goals and two assists for ten points, Ryann Fetty added three goals and four assists also for ten points, while Ella Kleiver and Alli French each scored four goals. Taylor Reid leads the team with five assists, accumulating seven points this season. Goalkeeper Cailynn Junk has started in goal for 16 matches, recording a 9-1-6 record with eight individual shutouts from her total of 44 saves.
Parkside finished seventh in the GLIAC standings with a conference record of 3-6-5 and an overall record of 5-8-5. This season they have been outscored by opponents by a margin of ten goals (20 to their opponents' ten). Emily Mikkelson leads Parkside with two goals and four assists for eight points, while Ava Rizzitano has tallied two goals and one assist for four points. In goal, Lola Minic has made significant contributions with her total of seven shutouts from her impressive tally of ninety-nine saves.
