The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's soccer team is set to face Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) semifinals. The match will take place on Friday, November 15, at 11:00 AM on Northern Michigan University's campus in Marquette, Michigan.

GVSU secured second place in the GLIAC standings and now heads to Marquette for the semifinal and championship rounds of the tournament. Northern Michigan finished first in the standings, granting them hosting rights for these final rounds.

In their quarterfinal matchup, GVSU defeated Parkside with a score of 1-0. Freshman Kendall Aikens scored the decisive goal, marking her second goal of the season, with assists from Alli French and Sophia Morgan. This victory brought GVSU's season record to 12 wins, one loss, and six draws.

Meanwhile, SVSU reached the semifinals by defeating Purdue Northwest 1-0 in overtime during their quarterfinal game. The Cardinals hold a season record of nine wins, five losses, and five draws and finished third in the GLIAC standings with a conference record of six wins, three losses, and five draws. SVSU has been performing well recently with four victories and two draws in their last six games.

In their previous encounter this season at Allendale, GVSU triumphed over SVSU with a commanding 5-0 win. Vesna Dennison scored her first two career goals during that match while Alli French contributed with the game-winning goal. Earlier in the season at SVSU's home ground, both teams played to a scoreless draw.
