Grand Valley State prepares to host Indianapolis in NCAA DII playoffs

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has been selected as the #2 seed in Super Region 3 for the NCAA Division II Football Championship. The team will host #7 Indianapolis on Saturday, November 23 at Lubbers Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Both teams have impressive records of 10-1, with Indianapolis winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

This marks Grand Valley State's 24th appearance in the NCAA Playoffs, where they have a historical record of 39-18 and have claimed four National Championships. Since 2001, GVSU has achieved a playoff record of 39-13 over 18 appearances. The current senior class boasts an overall record of 43-6 and is making its fourth playoff appearance.

The upcoming game against Indianapolis will be the first meeting between these two teams since their last encounter in 2018, which resulted in a decisive 31-7 victory for GVSU at Lubbers Stadium. Historically, GVSU leads the series against Indianapolis with a record of 21-3 and holds an impressive home advantage with an 11-1 record at Lubbers Stadium.

The NCAA Division II football championship features a single-elimination bracket comprising 28 teams. First-round games are set to take place on Saturday, November 23 at various campus sites. The top seed in each super region receives a bye into the second round, and semifinal teams will be re-seeded before advancing to further rounds.

The tournament schedule includes:

- First round: Saturday, Nov. 23

- Second round: Saturday, Nov. 30

- Quarterfinals: Saturday, Dec. 7

- Semifinals: Saturday, Dec. 14 on ESPN+

- National championship: Saturday, Dec. 21 on ESPN2
