Grand Valley State women’s soccer team seeded third in Midwest region

The Grand Valley State women's soccer team has been selected as the number three seed in the Midwest Region for the NCAA Tournament. The Lakers are set to face Missouri-St. Louis, the sixth seed, on Friday, November 22nd in St. Louis, Missouri.

This tournament appearance marks the 21st consecutive season that Grand Valley State has participated in the NCAA Tournament. Historically, GVSU holds a record of 63 wins, 12 losses, and 8 draws in this competition, along with having claimed 16 regional championships and a Division II record of seven national championships.

Ashland University secured the top seed in the Midwest Region and will enjoy a first-round bye. Ashland will host a first-round game between Northern Michigan, ranked fourth, and Drury, ranked fifth. The winner from this match will compete against Ashland.

Maryville University received the second seed and is set to host McKendree University, which holds the seventh seed, in their first-round match. Maryville will also serve as the venue for the game between Grand Valley State and Missouri-St. Louis. The victors from these matches will meet at Maryville's campus for their second-round contest.
