The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is set to face Lewis in a nonconference game on Tuesday, November 19. The matchup will take place at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Illinois, with the tipoff scheduled for 8:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM CT.
Grand Valley State enters the game with a 1-1 record for the 2024-25 season. The Lakers began their campaign with a strong performance against Walsh, winning 105-68 while shooting 65% from the field and 52% from beyond the arc. However, they narrowly lost to Ashland in their subsequent game, falling 68-66 due to a buzzer-beater.
In the victory over Walsh, Kaden Brown led the Lakers with 18 points on 7-11 shooting, including four three-pointers. Ethan Alderink and Jalen Charity are currently leading GVSU in scoring through two games, each averaging 11.5 points. Alderink recorded a team-high of 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Ashland, where Charity also scored 14 points. Mason Docks has been averaging ten points per game after contributing 15 points against Ashland.
Lewis has started their season with a record of 2-1, securing victories over Malone and Tiffin but losing their most recent match against Ferris State. The Flyers have averaged 72 points per game while shooting at a rate of 40% from the field and achieving a three-point percentage of 20%.
Rob Stroud leads Lewis with an average of 19 points per game on efficient shooting percentages of 55% from the field and 50% from three-point range. In their season opener against Malone, Stroud scored an impressive total of 25 points on an efficient shooting performance of eight out of ten attempts while also recording three steals. Paxton Warden is another key player for Lewis, averaging thirteen points and five rebounds early in the season; he scored eighteen points in each of his first two games against Malone and Tiffin.
