The Grand Valley State men's wrestling team, ranked 13th, is set to participate in the Jim Koch Open, a prominent Midwest tournament hosted by Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The event will take place on Saturday. Last weekend, the Lakers delivered a strong performance at the Findlay Open, with four wrestlers placing among the top four and seven achieving at least three wins.

Head coach Joey Simcoe expressed satisfaction with his team's progress early in the season but acknowledged that they will face a significant challenge at the Jim Koch Open. "This is a great early season tournament where kids learn where they are and what areas they need to focus on for the next month," Simcoe stated. He further noted that "this tournament is one of the toughest in the country and a barometer for our team."
