Grand Valley State University (GVSU) advanced in the NCAA Division II football playoffs with a 24-7 victory over the University of Indianapolis at Lubbers Stadium. The Lakers, ranked fourth, will face the defending National Champion and fifth-ranked Harding at Lubbers Stadium on November 30, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.

The game marked the 25th meeting between GVSU and Indianapolis and was characterized by strong defensive plays from both teams, resulting in a combined total of 19 punts and several three-and-out drives. A key moment came when GVSU's junior punter Trace Hrgich placed a punt inside the Greyhound's 10-yard line. This set up a scoring opportunity as junior quarterback Ike Udengwu connected with sophomore wide receiver Kellen Reed for a 37-yard touchdown pass, followed by RS freshman Mathew Bacik's successful PAT to take an early lead.

Indianapolis responded in the third quarter with a drive that ended in a touchdown run by QB Gavn Sukup. However, GVSU quickly regained control when Udengwu completed a long pass to junior wide receiver Jordan Johnson for another touchdown. The Lakers extended their lead after another effective drive culminated in sophomore running back Syone Usma-Harper's short touchdown run.

The defense played a significant role throughout the game, highlighted by linebacker Jimmy Downs' crucial fake punt run and consistent pressure from players like Anthony Cardamon and Jack Gilchrist. Defensive end Niles King also contributed significantly with multiple sacks and tackles for loss.

On offense, Udengwu threw for over 200 yards with notable contributions from receivers Cody Tierney, Jordan Johnson, Kellen Reed, Kyle Nott, and Gavin Cossou. Special teams were also pivotal; Hrgich averaged over 40 yards per punt.

Overall, GVSU's comprehensive team performance secured their advancement in the playoffs as they prepare to host Harding next weekend.
