The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team is set to begin their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play this weekend with two road games. The Lakers will face off against Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) on Thursday at 5:30 PM, followed by a game against Wayne State University on Saturday at 1:00 PM.

GVSU enters December with an undefeated record after a successful November, during which they defeated three top-10 opponents, including Ashland with a score of 67-42. Rylie Bisballe and Nicole Kamin each contributed 14 points in that game. The Lakers have been strong both offensively and defensively, ranking third nationally in scoring margin and sixth in scoring defense.

Saginaw Valley has started the season with a 4-2 record. Megan McCalla and Aleshia Jones are key players for the Cardinals, each averaging over 15 points per game. Their defense is notable for forcing turnovers, averaging 24.2 per game under the leadership of head coach Jenny Pruett.

Wayne State comes into the weekend with a record of 3-2, having won their last three games. Shea Tripp leads the Warriors in scoring and rebounding, boasting an average of 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
