GVSU athletes earn top honors as GLIAC Athletes of the Week

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) has achieved notable recognition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with three athletes being named Athletes of the Week.

Katie O'Connell was recognized as the Women's Swimmer of the Week following her performance at the Calvin Winter Invite. She set a new school and pool record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.16, surpassing the previous school record by two seconds and breaking the pool record by nearly four seconds.

Maddie Kooistra earned the title of GLIAC Women's Diver of the Week after securing first place in both diving events over the weekend. She scored 466.25 in the 1-meter dive and an impressive 478.95 in the 3-meter dive.

Matt Bosch was named Men's Swimmer of the Week for his achievements at the same event, where he broke three pool records. He set new benchmarks in the 200 freestyle relay (1:18.81), 200 freestyle (1:34.90), and 100 freestyle (43.01).

The GVSU swim and dive teams are scheduled to travel to Florida for a training trip, where they will compete against Indian River College on December 20th.
