Grand Valley State prepares for Midwest Classic wrestling tournament

The Grand Valley State University men's wrestling team, ranked 12th nationally, is set to participate in the 2024 Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana. The tournament is regarded as a premier regular-season event, attracting top-ranked programs from across the country. In the previous year, Lander secured the title with 126 points, while the Lakers placed 13th with 70 points during their return season after a 32-year break.

The Lakers will field a squad of ten wrestlers, including five redshirt freshmen, one sophomore, two juniors, and two seniors. Among them are four ranked competitors: Josh Kenny leads at 174 pounds as the defending NCAA Division II National Champion; Brayden Mirjavadi ranks 17th at 184 pounds; Wyatt Miller holds the seventh spot at 197 pounds; and Carter Blough is sixth at 285 pounds.
