Grand Valley State University's wrestling team has achieved its highest-ever ranking, moving up to the 11th spot in The Open Mat's latest top 25 rankings. This marks a significant milestone for the program, which is in only its second year after resuming from a 32-year hiatus. The Lakers recently secured an eighth-place finish at the 2024 Midwest Classic, with four athletes reaching the podium.

Individually, five GVSU wrestlers have earned national rankings within the top 13 of their respective weight classes. Among them are three athletes ranked in the top 10.

Jak Keller is ranked #13 in the 133-pound category with a record of 12-9. He finished sixth at the Midwest Classic and reached the semifinals with a 3-3 performance.

Josh Kenny holds the #3 spot in the 174-pound class, boasting an 8-3 record. He placed fourth at the Midwest Classic with a record of 4-2.

Brayden Mirjavadi is ranked #9 in the 184-pound division and has a record of 12-8. He finished seventh at the Midwest Classic, going 4-2.

Wyatt Miller ranks #11 in the 197-pound category and had a challenging time at the Midwest Classic with a record of 1-2.

Carter Blough stands out as #4 in the heavyweight division (285 pounds) with an impressive record of 12-3. He achieved second place at the Midwest Classic, finishing with a strong showing of four wins against one loss.
