The Grand Valley State men's wrestling team, ranked 12th nationally, secured two victories against top 10 opponents at the Glenville State Quad on Sunday. The Lakers achieved wins over second-ranked Glenville State with a score of 23-16 and eighth-ranked Lander by a narrow margin of 21-20. However, they fell to 22nd-ranked Gannon in their final match with a score of 38-8.

Senior wrestler Jak Keller delivered an impressive performance at the event, winning both his matches at the 133-pound weight class. His notable victory included an 8-5 decision over Christian Davis from Lander. Junior Chris Donathan also made a strong debut for the year at the 149-pound category, securing two wins including a crucial decision over Gabriel Onorato from Glenville State.

Other standout performances came from Maddox Simcoe, who won against Wiley Houser of Glenville State; Josh Kenny, who achieved a technical fall win over Zachary Holstion; and Brayden Mirjavadi, who defeated Kyle Homet. Carter Blough's major decision win over Nick Johnson was pivotal in sealing the victory against Glenville State.

Despite these successes, Grand Valley State faced challenges in their matchup against Gannon University. They managed only two individual victories during this contest: Bradley Mayse’s decision win and Brayden Bobo’s technical fall triumph.

The Lakers now hold a dual meet record of 2-1 as they prepare for the upcoming NWCA National Duals.
