Gabe Brown earns first-team All-American honors from D2Football

Senior offensive lineman Gabe Brown has been recognized as a D2Football.com First-Team All-American. The announcement also highlighted senior safety Ian Kennelly and junior linebacker Anthony Cardamone, who received D2Football.com Elite 100 honors.

Brown played a crucial role in the Lakers' offensive line, contributing significantly to a rushing game that led the GLIAC and ranked seventh nationally with an average of 247.2 yards per game. The team rushed for over 235 yards in eight games during the season. Brown demonstrated proficiency in both run and pass blocking, achieving a 96.3 efficiency rating for the regular season. Besides his All-America honors, Brown was a finalist for the 2024 Gene Upshaw Award and was named the 2024 GLIAC Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Cardamone, who earned First-Team All-GLIAC recognition, led his team with 80 tackles. His performance included 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 quarterback sacks. He also recorded nine quarterback hurries, forced three fumbles, and recovered one fumble during the season. Kennelly, another First-Team All-GLIAC honoree, ranked second on the team with 64 tackles and achieved a career-high of three interceptions.

Grand Valley State concluded their 2024 season with an impressive record of 11-2 and reached the NCAA DII Playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.
