GVSU women's basketball team claimed victory over Ferris State in a GLIAC matchup, marking an 83-61 win. The game, held in Big Rapids, Michigan, saw GVSU improve to a 15-1 overall record and maintain an undefeated 5-0 standing in the conference.

The Lakers initially took a 7-2 lead before Ferris State tied the game at seven. By the end of the first quarter, GVSU led 21-13 after Hadley Miller contributed two three-pointers during a 10-2 run. Despite Ferris State's efforts to close the gap to six points early in the second quarter, Lexi Plitzuweit's three-point play and Nicole Kamin's layup extended GVSU's lead to double digits. The Lakers went into halftime with a 36-24 advantage.

In the third quarter, Abrie Cabana hit a three-pointer that increased GVSU's lead to 15 points. A subsequent 9-0 run further solidified their position as Kathryn Schmidt scored five consecutive points sandwiched between two Rylie Bisballe layups. This brought their lead up to 48-28 and later peaked at a 26-point margin following another Cabana layup.

Ferris State managed some late scoring but could not significantly reduce the deficit. The Lakers' lead reached back up to 25 points thanks to contributions from Paige Vanstee and Bisballe.

Rylie Bisballe led GVSU with 15 points on efficient shooting, while Hadley Miller, Abrie Cabana, Paige Vanstee, MacKenzie Bisballe, and Nicole Kamin each added nine points. The team collectively scored 42 points in the paint and forced Ferris State into committing 26 turnovers.

Looking ahead, GVSU will continue their road trip with a game against LSSU scheduled for Saturday at 5:00 PM.
