The GVSU women's basketball team is set to continue their series of road games with a match against Davenport. The Lakers, currently holding the top rank, will play the Panthers in Caledonia at 5:30 PM on Thursday.
GVSU has maintained an impressive performance recently, securing victories over Ferris State and LSSU. Their win against Ferris State ended with a score of 83-61, where they forced 26 turnovers and restricted their opponents to a mere 17.4% shooting from three-point range. Rylie Bisballe contributed significantly with 15 points, while Nicole Kamin added nine points and eight rebounds.
In their subsequent game against LSSU, GVSU dominated with a final score of 104-48 after leading by 29 points in the first quarter alone. Paige Vanstee achieved her first career double-double during this game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ellie Droste also made notable progress by moving into the top ten of GVSU's all-time scoring list.
Historically, Grand Valley State has been successful against Davenport, winning all previous encounters including two last season. In these past matches, Ellie Droste scored prominently for GVSU in Allendale with a game-high of 15 points.
Davenport has faced challenges this season, holding a record of only three wins out of fourteen games overall and just one victory in six GLIAC matches. They managed to secure their sole conference win against SVSU but have since lost five out of six games following that success.
