Lakers prepare to face Davenport after triumph over Wayne State

The Lakers' swim and dive team from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is preparing for a meet against Davenport, following a successful competition against Wayne State University. The GVSU women's team secured a significant victory with a score of 215-84. Lucy Hedley led the team with first-place finishes in three events, while Kiersten Harmon won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.68 seconds. Other top performers included O'Connell, Proietti, Nation, and Wager.

On the men's side, the Lakers also performed well, defeating Wayne State with a score of 207-93. Matt Bosch stood out by winning three events, and four other teammates achieved first-place finishes in their respective categories. A new pool record was set in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:22.82 by Evan Scotto DiVetta, Aaron Dies, Carysn Christoffel, and Matt Bosch.

Head Coach Boyce expressed optimism about the upcoming meet at East Kentwood High School. "We're in week two of the semester, and now that we've settled into our routine with practices and classes, we're feeling good as we head into the meet this weekend," he said. He also praised the venue: "It's a great facility, and we're expecting some strong times and solid diving scores."

Coach Boyce highlighted another opportunity for divers to qualify for nationals: "Our divers will also have another chance to qualify for nationals, so we're really excited for the weekend ahead!"
