GVSU swim team sweeps competition against Davenport University

The Lakers swim and dive team achieved a sweeping victory over the Davenport University Panthers at the Kentwood Aquatics Center. The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's and women's teams dominated the competition, securing first place in nearly every event.

In the men's events, GVSU triumphed with a score of 243.5 to 56.5 against the Panthers. Raul Briceno led the charge by winning the men's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:18.13 and later claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 4:32.59. Carysn Christoffel took first in the men's 200-yard freestyle at 1:42.28 and also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.43.

Thomas Zoldowski and Aaron Dies secured first and second places for GVSU in the men's 100-yard backstroke, while Andrew Goh topped both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events with times of 54.99 and 2:03.70, respectively. Esteban Nunez Del Prado won both the men's 100-yard butterfly at 48.98 and the 200-yard individual medley (IM) with a time of 1:51.63.

Matt Bosch was victorious in the men's 50-yard freestyle at 20.49 seconds, followed by Austin Millard in second place. Evan Scotto DiVetta captured first place in the men's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.79.

The GVSU men also excelled in relays, taking first place in both the men's medley relay at a time of 3:17.82 and free relay finishing at 3:01.07.

In diving, Mathew Blommel scored a win on the men's three-meter board with a score of 313.13, while Carter Wood came second but won on one-meter board scoring 302.85.

The GVSU women mirrored their male counterparts' success by defeating Davenport with an impressive score of 257 to 43.

Linda Frick won first place for GVSU women’s team in her debut event -the women's 1000 yard freestyle- completing it within 10:26 minutes; Lucy Hedley seized two wins across both 200 yards & 100 yards freestyles- times being respectively set as follows: 1-minute fifty-seconds point seventy-second & exactly fifty-fourteen seconds too- Katie O’Connell finished close behind them coming second during five hundred yards stretch registering clocked value reaching five-one-point-three finally whereas Vittoria Proietti took lead role swimming backstroke hundred interval wrapping it up under just half-minute seven-twenty-nine

Sara Alvarez excelled individually nabbing top spot twice notably breasting strokes first achieving sixty-three-nineteen result then breaking down records through two-hundred intermediate mixed – concluding latter part much sooner than anticipated running up astonishing finish rated two-zero-five-twenty-five Kelly Shortall soared high above competitors’ expectations conquering fly twenty-two overall length performance thereby showing off solid round figures totalling merely sixty-six-ninety making other contenders struggle tirelessly Stacy Nation performed admirably overcoming hundred feet variation surpassing fierce rivalries competing alongside fellow colleagues ultimately cementing win showcasing unique combination grace power diligence timing summed five-seven-fifty four Final act comprised formidable collective effort ensued resulting stunning accomplishments accomplished alongside teammates Vittoria Proietti Sara Alvarez Alysa Wager Lucy Hedley whose unity enabled victorious four-hundred medley assembly capped resounding three-forty-three-ninety-five And final flourish sealed thrilling conclusion marked decisive triumph witnessed similarly structured quartet adding fast-paced last hurrah ending perfect swan song highlighting grand finale latest triumph scored tremendous victory closing gap insurmountable
