Grand Valley State University's men's wrestling team participated in the Gannon Quad event on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Lakers achieved a victory over Fairmont State with a score of 38-10 but faced defeats against Millersville and Gannon with scores of 22-18 and 40-12, respectively. Despite having only two regular wrestlers in their lineup—Orion Wilson at 125 pounds and Carter Blough at heavyweight—the team put up a commendable performance.

The Lakers had recently competed at the NWCA National Duals where they secured sixth place among the top programs nationwide. At the Gannon Quad, Orion Wilson managed to win two out of his three matches with both a fall and a technical fall. Brady Vogt also delivered strong performances by winning both his matches through major decisions. Brayden Bobo was undefeated with three wins, including two falls. Carter Blough maintained his #3 ranking status by winning all three of his matches with two falls.

In their match against Fairmont State, Grand Valley State won decisively with significant contributions from multiple wrestlers: Orion Wilson defeated Caden Delwarte in just 33 seconds, Logan Klinge achieved a technical fall over Jasup Spragg, and Benjamin Leece secured a victory by pinning Ethan Babay in just over three minutes.

However, against Millersville, despite notable victories such as Orion Wilson's technical fall over Bryce Beatty and Brady Vogt's major decision against Elias Smith, the team fell short overall.

In their final matchup against Gannon University, Grand Valley State faced tough competition. Brayden Bobo continued his strong form by defeating Gaetano Savelli with a quick fall while Carter Blough secured another win due to forfeit.

Overall, Grand Valley State's wrestling team demonstrated resilience and skill throughout the event despite challenges posed by limited participation from regular team members.
