GVSU faces Roosevelt after breaking six-game losing streak

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is set to face Roosevelt in Chicago, Illinois, on Monday night. The game will tip off at 8:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM CT.

This marks the second meeting between the two teams in their history. The previous encounter took place in 1979, with GVSU winning decisively, scoring a record-breaking 133 points against Roosevelt and securing a victory margin of 68 points—the largest in the program's history.

Currently, GVSU holds a record of 7-8 for the season and stands at 3-4 in the GLIAC conference. They recently broke a six-game losing streak by defeating Davenport on the road with a close score of 62-60. Kaden Brown was instrumental in this victory, leading with 21 points and four successful three-pointers.

Roosevelt is participating in its first season within the GLIAC and has an overall record of 5-10, including a conference record of 2-5. In their last outing, Roosevelt secured a home win against Davenport with an 85-67 scoreline. The Lakers have been averaging 72 points per game while shooting at 42% from the field and maintaining a three-point shooting percentage of 31%. Matt Forte is noteworthy for his performance as he ranks second in the GLIAC by averaging 18.9 points per game while shooting at a rate of 39%. Enari Thomas follows closely, ranking fourth with an average of 16.2 points per game and notable shooting percentages—46% from both the field and beyond the arc.
