Paige VanStee, a redshirt junior at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first time in her career that she has received this honor, as announced by the league office.
In a recent game against Davenport, where GVSU triumphed with a score of 110-51, VanStee achieved her second consecutive double-double. She scored 16 points and matched her career-high with 10 rebounds. Additionally, she contributed four steals and one block. Her defensive efforts were pivotal in limiting Davenport to 34% shooting from the field and 28.6% from beyond the arc. VanStee also played a significant role in forcing 30 turnovers and securing a rebounding advantage of 42-25 for GVSU.
Currently holding the title of GLIAC Sixth Woman of the Year, VanStee is averaging 6.7 points per game and ranks third on her team with an average of four rebounds per game. The Lakers are scheduled to play again tonight at Roosevelt, with tip-off set for 6:30 Eastern Time.
