The Grand Valley State men's basketball team secured a victory against Roosevelt, winning 76-70 in an away game on Monday night in Chicago. This win brings the Lakers' season record to 8-8 and 4-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Kaden Brown led the scoring with 30 points, shooting 9-12 from the field, including six three-pointers, and maintaining a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. William Dunn achieved a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while also being perfect from the free throw line. Jalen Charity contributed 12 points, and Trevor Smith Jr. set a career high with eight assists alongside seven points and two rebounds.

Grand Valley State shot 40% both from the field and beyond the arc. In contrast, Roosevelt shot at a higher rate of 45% from the field but only managed 29% from three-point range. Despite being outrebounded by Roosevelt, GVSU managed to dish out more assists and score more points in the paint.

The game began with GVSU taking an early lead thanks to effective three-point shooting. Kaden Brown was instrumental in maintaining this lead during the first half with his scoring prowess. Although Roosevelt managed to take brief leads throughout the game, crucial plays by Brown and others ensured that GVSU remained competitive.

In a tense second half, both teams exchanged leads until GVSU took control late in the game following significant contributions from Dunn and Smith Jr., which helped secure their win.

Looking ahead, GVSU will play at home against Parkside on Thursday night followed by another home game against Purdue Northwest on Saturday afternoon. Both games will be available for streaming on FloSports and broadcasted live on Thunder Country 107.3.
