The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team is set to return home after a three-week absence for games against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. The upcoming Thursday game will feature 616 Night, where the Lakers will don special West Michigan-themed jerseys. The first 250 students attending will receive a 616-inspired t-shirt. Saturday's game will be Sawyer's Day, showcasing another unique jersey as a nod to GVSU athletics history.
The Lakers recently secured a 70-51 victory over Roosevelt, concluding a four-game road trip. Nicole Kamin led with a season-high of 17 points, along with six rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Abrie Cabana contributed ten points, while MacKenzie Bisballe added nine points and five blocks. This win marks their seventh consecutive victory and maintains their perfect record in GLIAC play at 8-0. GVSU ranks among the top ten nationally in various offensive and defensive categories.
Last season, GVSU faced Parkside three times, including twice during the regular season and once in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, winning all encounters. Rylie Bisballe averaged 20.7 points across these games. Parkside enters this weekend third in the conference standings with an overall record of 11-4 and has excelled on the road with a 9-1 record outside Kenosha.
GVSU also played Purdue Northwest three times last year, winning each matchup decisively. Nicole Kamin averaged 17 points per game during these contests. Purdue Northwest has faced challenges under new head coach Jesse Ford, currently holding a record of 4-12 overall and struggling defensively.
Fans can follow both games through live stats and streaming options or listen via radio broadcasts on several local stations.
