GVSU swim teams break multiple records during Senior Day victories

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) swim and dive teams achieved remarkable success on Senior Day, setting 13 new pool records in Allendale, Michigan. Both the men's and women's teams emerged victorious against the University of Findlay.

The women's team secured a decisive win with a score of 223 to 69. Senior Kayley Gallagher claimed first place in her event, while Alysa Wager set a new pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.41 seconds. Lucy Hedley excelled by setting three pool records in the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and 500-yard freestyle events.

Vittoria Proietti contributed by breaking two records in the backstroke events. The women's relay teams also performed well, with the 200 medley relay team setting a new pool record and the 400-yard freestyle relay team achieving a school record.

On the diving boards, senior Maddie Kooistra dominated both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

The men's team defeated U-Findlay with a score of 205 to 83. Raul Briceno took first place in the 1000 freestyle event. Senior Matt Bosch set pool records in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events. Aaron Dies broke another record in the backstroke category.

Thomas Zoldowski led his event alongside teammates Anton Rauch and Will Herwig. The men's relay teams also showed strong performances, with their medley relay setting a new pool record.

Carter Wood won both diving events for GVSU's men’s team.
