The GVSU women's basketball team is set to embark on their longest road trip of the GLIAC schedule, traveling north to face Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. The Lakers will play against NMU on Thursday, followed by a game against Michigan Tech in Houghton on Saturday afternoon.

This trip marks the beginning of the second half of the conference schedule. GVSU currently leads the standings with a 10-0 record, maintaining their position at the top for two games. With an overall record of 20-1, they have held the number one spot in the WBCA national poll since late November. Recently, GVSU completed a successful home weekend by defeating Parkside 72-43 and PNW 106-47. MacKenzie Bisballe earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance, scoring 36 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, blocking nine shots, providing six assists, and making three steals.

In their first encounter this season with Northern Michigan, GVSU secured an 81-71 victory. Despite NMU's early lead after the first quarter, GVSU took control in the second quarter with a strong offensive showing. Rylie Bisballe contributed significantly with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Northern Michigan enters this matchup with a record of 13-5 overall and ranks third in the GLIAC at 7-3. They possess one of the league's best defenses but will look to avenge their previous loss to GVSU. Jacy Weisbrod has returned to their lineup as a key player.

Earlier this January, GVSU defeated Michigan Tech decisively with a score of 93-52. Rylie Bisballe led that game as well with notable contributions from Abrie Cabana.

Michigan Tech stands sixth in league standings at 5-5 and holds an overall record of 8-10. Their recent form includes a three-game winning streak which was snapped by Ferris State last Saturday.

Fans can follow both games via live stats and streams or listen on radio stations such as The Ticket (106.1 FM/1340 AM), Thunder Country (107.3 FM), or WLCS (98.3). For further updates, social media handles @gvsuwbb and website GVSUlakers.com offer comprehensive coverage.
