The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 5-2 victory against Tiffin in their home opener on Friday, February 7. This win brings the Lakers' season record to 2-0.
In doubles play, GVSU captured the point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Ipek Sakiroglu and Kalomoira Rallie achieved a narrow 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Neus Ramos and Vale Mozas faced a setback with a 3-6 loss at the top doubles spot.
During singles matches, Neus Ramos emerged victorious in a challenging three-set match at the top singles position with scores of 4-6, 6-0, and 7-5. Estefania Hernandez also claimed a three-set win at No. 4 singles with scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 6-3. Ipek Sakiroglu delivered a straight-set win of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, while Kalomoira Ralli added another straight-set victory with scores of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles. Vale Mozas was defeated in her match at No. 2 singles with scores of 2-6, and Anna Soteras lost her match at No.3 singles by scores of 2–6 and 5–7.
The Lakers are set to continue their weekend homestand on Saturday when they face Findlay at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club with first serve scheduled for 5:00 PM.
