The Grand Valley State women's tennis team experienced a setback on Saturday, February 8, 2025, with a 5-2 loss to Findlay. This defeat marks the Lakers' first loss of the season, bringing their record to 2-1.

Findlay dominated the doubles matches, securing the doubles point. Neus Ramos and Vale Mozas were defeated in a challenging match with a score of 2-6 at the top singles position. Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez also faced a tough loss at No. 2 doubles with a score of 2-6. Ipek Sakiroglu and Kalomoira Ralli fell short in their No. 3 doubles match, ending with a score of 3-6.

In singles competition, Ipek Sakiroglu delivered a strong performance with a straight-set victory of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Kalomoira Ralli followed suit with another straight-set win at No. 6 singles, finishing with scores of 6-2, 6-4. However, Neus Ramos was narrowly defeated in her top singles match with scores of 5-7, 4-6. Vale Mozas fought hard but lost in three sets at No. 2 singles with scores of 1-6, 6-4, and an intense tiebreaker ending at 7-6. Anna Soteras was defeated at No. 3 singles after two sets ending in scores of 7-6 and 6-4. Estefania Hernandez faced a difficult match at No. 4 singles, losing with scores of 5-7 and 1-6.

The Lakers will return to action next weekend when they host Grace College on Friday, February 15th at noon and Walsh on Saturday, February 17th at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
