Grand Valley State men's tennis secures victory over Walsh

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team continued their strong start to the season with a 6-1 victory over Walsh on Saturday at the Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. This win improves their record to 5-0.

In doubles, GVSU secured all matches to claim the doubles point. Victor Lopes and Lucas Gonzalez achieved a 6-3 win in the top position. Stephen Claassen and Patricio Sepulveda followed with a close 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Chimo Minguez and Sebastian O'Byrne won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

For singles matches, Denys Zamaraiev overcame his opponent in three sets with scores of 6-3, 0-6, and 6-1 at the top position. Victor Lopes claimed a straight-set win of 6-4, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. Patricio Sepulveda dominated his match with a decisive 6-0, 6-2 result at No. 3 singles. Lawrence Ivanov also secured a straight-set victory of 6-2, 6-3 at No.4 singles, while Jorge Ruiz won his match convincingly with scores of 6-3, and 6-1 at No.5 singles. Sebastian O'Byrne faced a challenging match but ultimately fell in three sets: 4-6,7 -5 ,10 -5.

Looking ahead, the Lakers are set to compete against Northwood next Friday in Midland, Michigan.
