Grand Valley State women’s tennis defeats Northwood in decisive road victory

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a 6-1 victory against Northwood, improving their season record to 4-1. The match took place on Friday afternoon in Midland, Michigan.

Northwood initially gained the upper hand by winning the doubles point with victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. Neus Ramos and Anna Soteras were defeated 3-6 at the top doubles position, while Rachel Sam and Estefania Hernandez lost 5-7 at No. 2 doubles.

Grand Valley State responded strongly in singles play, sweeping all matches to clinch the overall win. Neus Ramos triumphed with a straight-set victory of 6-1, 6-4 at the top singles position. Vale Mozas followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Anna Soteras recorded a straight-set win of 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while Estefania Hernandez won her match with scores of 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Ipek Sakiroglu added another victory for GVSU with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, and Nadia Rodewald secured a win by default at No. 6 singles.

Looking ahead, the Lakers are set to travel to Florida next week for three matches. They will face Charleston on February 28th at Lakeland, Florida.
